Tips and Tricks to get the best Havelock rental home experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the best rental within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
Planning and choosing the best Havelock rental:
- Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Golf cart, kayaks, paddle board & launch. Pet friendly. has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before booking the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your invoice.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of problems.
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
- Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to inspire new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
