Tips to get the perfect vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Book your Havelock rental property in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some hosts offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. GREAT OCEAN VIEWS!!! BEAUTIFUL 2 BR\/2 bath LUXURY CONDO SLEEPS 6 has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before reserving the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If your family is bringing pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Havelock destination you love, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
