Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental value:
- To get the best value, try shifting your family's Havelock vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to choose the perfect vacation rental in the Havelock area:
- Begin by selecting your trip dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Gorgeous Inlet View - Balcony & Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or may be applied to your contract.
Considerations for your stay:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many problems.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
