Our top Havelock rental home booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer is high season in the Havelock area. To book the best vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Selecting and booking your prefectvacation home:
- Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Tropical inspired 2 bed 2 bath, in an OCEANFRONT complex with 3 pools has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
