Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Havelock rental home experience:

When to go & When to reserve a rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To book the largest rental within budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Havelock attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guides which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, picking, and booking yourvacation home:

  • Begin by selecting vacation dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Soundside Sunset-Gorgeous Soundfront Condo has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's a particular Havelock destination you long to visit, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
