Our top Emerald Isle vacation rental home tips:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
- The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning, selecting, and booking your prefectrental home:
- Choose a group leader, select your dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Great Escape West, Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
