Emerald Isle vacation rental home tips:
When to visit & When to reserve a Havelock rental home:
- Summer is high season in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
Selecting the best vacation home:
- First and foremost, have your group commit to the best dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Home - Newly Renovated - Beach House - Emerald Isle Point Great for Familes has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property owner before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- If there's a certain Havelock attraction you are enamored with, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- During check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to stimulate more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
