Tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- To book the largest vacation home within budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, property management companies supply Havelock area travel guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing and booking a perfectvacation home:
- First, have your family commit to date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Home with golf cart, community pool, easy access,Spinnakers Reach community has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what is right for your group.
- If there's an individual Havelock beach you love, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
