How to book the best Havelock rental experience:
Get the best value:
- To find the best value, try changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, property management companies supply Havelock area travel guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the best rental in the Havelock area:
- Select your vacation week and budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Multi-level, oceanfront condo with WiFi, W\/D, & community pool\/tennis courts has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
