How to find the best Havelock rental home experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Choosing the perfect rental in Emerald Isle:
- To start, have your group decide on vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. AfterDune Shade at Emerald Isle has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property owner before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation family.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many concerns.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to stimulate new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
