Tricks and tips to get the perfect Havelock rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations and attractions.
Finding the perfect vacation home in the Havelock area:
- Select dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. AfterDune Shade at Emerald Isle has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before booking the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's an individual Havelock destination you simply love, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
