Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect vacation rental experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Booking in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the perfect vacation rental in the Havelock area:
- Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Keystone West West - Emerald Isle Paradise has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your group.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
- If there's a particular Havelock beach you long to visit, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
