Our top Rental property booking tips:
How to get the best value:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Book your Havelock rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, picking, and booking your Havelock rental home:
- Start by choosing your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Large oceanside home w\/elevator located at the Point in Emerald Isle! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. Otherwise, email the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
- If there's a particular Havelock destination you long to visit, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to propel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
