Tips for getting the best Havelock rental experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in the Havelock area. To book the best rental home for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many property management companies supply Havelock area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and choosing a perfect Havelock rental home:
- To start, have your family agree to dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Lighthouse Cottage DOG FRIENDLY -Historic District has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
- If there's an individual Havelock destination you long to visit, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few problems.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
