Rental property booking tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- Summer time is high season in Beaufort. To find the best value, consider changing your family's Havelock vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Havelock area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Many property management companies supply Havelock area travel guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Finding the best rental in Beaufort:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and select a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Lighthouse Cottage DOG FRIENDLY -Historic District has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
