Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for local tours and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Maritime West B1, Oceanfront Condo in Pine Knoll Shores, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
- Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
More considerations:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to stimulate more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
