Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have coupons for local accommodations and attractions.
How to choose the best rental:
- Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. NEW RENTAL - Sound & Ocean View Duplex - 2 Blocks from Beach! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property manager before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation family.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or applied to your agreement.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Advice for a great stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. message the rental manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
