Tricks and tips to get the perfect Havelock vacation home experience:
Find your best deal:
- In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectvacation home:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Newly Remodeled Charming Beach Cottage with Private Pool in Historic Salter Path has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
Advice for your stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
