Rental booking tips:
How to get the best value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best value, consider changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many property management companies supply Havelock area travel guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Choose your vacation week and budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Ocean Club H203 - 2BR 2BA Almost Oceanfront Condo has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- If there's an individual Havelock destination you are crazy about, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or might be applied to your agreement.
Know before you go:
- Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Contact the rental manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many problems.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
