How to find the best vacation rental experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Summer is the most expensive season in Atlantic Beach. Booking your vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
- In the Havelock area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Selecting the perfect rental home:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Crystal Coast Atlantic Beach. Oceanfront with private beach access has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what is right for your group.
- If there's a specific Havelock attraction you are crazy about, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
