Tips to get the optimal Havelock vacation home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Havelock area. Booking in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First and foremost, have your family decide on dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Ocean Club Updated Condo with Beach and Sound Access with Pool has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If not, email or call the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what is suitable for your family.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
