Getting the best Havelock vacation rental experience:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Emerald Isle. Reserve your Havelock rental in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- To start, have your family agree to vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Renovated Cottage with Private Free Oceanfront Parking and Outdoor Shower has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of problems.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
