Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Havelock rental experience:
When to visit Emerald Isle & When to reserve a Havelock rental home:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Havelock area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many management companies supply Havelock area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Renovated Cottage with Private Free Oceanfront Parking and Outdoor Shower has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If not, email or call the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- During arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
