Our top Rental home booking tips:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, try shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- First and foremost, have your group agree to trip dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Ocean Front With Ocean Views has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, call the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what is suitable for your family.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Does your family require specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Have a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To make certain no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the rental manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
