Our top Emerald Isle rental home booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best value:
- June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. To get the best rental within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- To start, have your group choose the best dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Oceanfront Cottage with Private Beach Access has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. Otherwise, contact the property management company before booking the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Tips to have a great stay:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your stay, note any problem areas during check in. Contact the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
