Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- To find the most suitable vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Havelock restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many rental management companies supply Havelock area visitor guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the perfect rental in the Havelock area:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Oceanfront Cottage with Private Beach Access has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property owner before you book the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
During your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the host right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
