Tips for getting the perfect vacation home experience:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • To find the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and picking the rightvacation home:

  • Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Oceanfront high rise condo, centrally located in Emerald Isle has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the host before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great stay? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
