Booking the best Havelock vacation home experience:
Get the best value:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best value, try changing your family's Havelock trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guides that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by selecting trip dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Oceanfront Home on Ocean Ridge-Sutton Cottage has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often available online. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a specific Havelock destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
- Upon arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
