Tips for getting the perfect Atlantic Beach vacation home experience:

When to visit Atlantic Beach & When to book:

  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Havelock vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Start by choosing trip dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Oceanfront Home on Ocean Ridge-Sutton Cottage has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you book your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is right for your family.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
  • If there's an individual Havelock beach you simply love, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Advice for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • During check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
