Tricks and tips for getting the best Havelock rental home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Summer time is high season in Emerald Isle. Booking your vacation home in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Choosing and booking your Havelock rental:
- Start by having your group decide on date ranges and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Pebble Beach G-212, Oceanside Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many problems.
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. message the rental manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
