Strategies to get the perfect rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many rental management companies supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose and book your Havelock rental home:
- First and foremost, have your family choose the best dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Pelican's Roost, Oceanfront House in Pine Knoll Shores, NC! has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. Otherwise, email the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a particular Havelock attraction you long to visit, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
