Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Havelock vacation home experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- In the Havelock area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Summer is high season in the Havelock area. To get the best rental for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting and booking yourvacation home:
- First and foremost, have your group agree to a vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Queens Court 1203, Oceanfront Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your family.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
