Tricks and tips for getting the best Emerald Isle vacation property experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Summer is high season in the Havelock area. To book the most suitable rental within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many rental management companies supply Havelock area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Redone Luxury Waterfront at The Point w\/ Heated Pool, Hot Tub, Fire Pit, Game Rm has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. If not, call the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.

More tips for your visit:

  • Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to drive more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
