Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Some hosts offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.
Planning, selecting, and booking a perfectrental:
- Start by selecting your trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. REMODELED OCEANFRONT CONDO WITH POOLS & EASY BEACH ACCESS. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what is best for your group.
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Havelock attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
Have a great stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
