Finding the best rental home experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- To find the best value, change your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Havelock area travel guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose the perfect vacation home:
- To start, have your family choose date ranges and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Pool, Game Room, 5 Ensuite BRs & Ocean Views! has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. Otherwise, call the property manager before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
