How to book the best Havelock vacation rental experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the best value, try changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.

Narrow your Search:

  • Begin by choosing vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Ocean front 6BR with pool & hot tub has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. If not, reach out to the host before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your trip.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the property manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your life at home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
