Booking the best Emerald Isle rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in Emerald Isle. Book your Havelock vacation home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Make a plan and pick yourrental home:

  • First, have your family select dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Beached, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what is right for your vacation family.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your invoice.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

Additional considerations:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. message the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
