Tricks and tips to get the optimal rental home experience:
How to get the best value:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Havelock area. To find the most suitable rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Havelock restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Havelock area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to select the best rental home:
- Select your vacation week and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Breakers C24
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to inspire more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
