Our top Pine Knoll Shores rental booking tips and tricks:

Money saving strategies:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in the Havelock area. To find the best value, change your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Havelock area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

  • Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to inspire new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review.
