Tricks and tips to get the perfect Emerald Isle rental home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. To book the most suitable vacation home within budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Havelock restaurants and activities.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.
How to select the perfect rental home in the Havelock area:
- Start by having your family decide on dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Soundfront Home with PRIVATE DOCK! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- If there's a particular Havelock beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
During your stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
