Finding the best rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Havelock area. Book your Havelock rental in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Select vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Spacious 3 BR, Pet Friendly Ocean side home in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before booking the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is best for your vacation family.
- If your group is bringing pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Tips for your stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
