Strategies to get the perfect vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer is high season in the Havelock area. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning and choosing the right Havelock rental:
- Choose your dates and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Fantastic Views! On the Water, Pool, Jacuzzi, and Gym @ Olde Towne Yacht Club has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your invoice.
Advice for your stay:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many problems.
- Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
