Tricks and tips to get the best vacation home experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Havelock rental home:
- Summertime is high season in Atlantic Beach. Book your Havelock vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- To start, have your group agree to trip dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Spacious oceanfront home with large deck, beach access, grill, & W\/D has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the host before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your trip.
- If there's an individual Havelock beach you long to visit, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- At Check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
