How to find the best Havelock vacation property experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- In the Havelock area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Havelock area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have coupons for local tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by selecting your trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Crab Cottage, Almost Oceanfront House in Atlantic Beach, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your family.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Have a great stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
