Vacation rental booking tips:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer months are high season in the Havelock area. To find the largest rental home within budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Havelock attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- First, have your group select vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Steps to the beach! 3BR\/2.5BA Oceanfront condo complex has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a specific Havelock attraction you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or applied to your invoice.
More tips for your visit:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
