Getting the best Emerald Isle rental home experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • In the Havelock area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best vacation home within your budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your Search:

  • Choose your vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Classic Ocean Front 4BR Duplex - near Bogue Inlet Pier! has 4 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
  • If there's a certain Havelock destination you crave, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking

Tips for your stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
