Tips for getting the best vacation property experience:
When to reserve a Havelock rental home & When to go:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have money saving offers on local tours and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Summer Winds 403: Oceanfront 2BR 2BA, Complex Amenities! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of issues.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
