Our top Rental booking tips:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the most suitable rental within your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Havelock restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Select your dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Oceanside, Kid-Friendly Emerald Isle Home w\/ Hot Tub and 2 Kitchens has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your vacation family.
- If there's a certain Havelock destination you crave, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure damages aren't linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas during check in. text the property manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a great time? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
