Tips to get the perfect Havelock rental home experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Book your Havelock rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning and picking a perfect Havelock rental:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Surf\/Break, Soundside House in Pine Knoll Shores, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. If not, contact the property manager before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
More considerations:
- Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of difficulties.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
