How to book the best Atlantic Beach vacation home experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- To find the best value, shift your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Havelock area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and pick the best Havelock rental home:
- Select vacation dates and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. The Sand Castle, Oceanside House in Atlantic Beach, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation.
- If there's a certain Havelock destination you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
