How to find the best rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best value, shift your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many management companies supply Havelock area visitor guides which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose and book the perfectvacation home:

  • Select a group leader, choose your dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Third floor with one of the best views of the ocean at Pier Pointe has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If not, email the host before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
