Tricks and tips to get the best Emerald Isle vacation home experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- To book the most suitable rental within budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Havelock attractions.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and choosing your prefect Havelock rental:
- First, have your group select dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Ocean Front Condo Just Steps to the Beach -Maximum 6 night stay only. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- During arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
