Rental booking tips:
How to get the best value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the best value, consider changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many rental management companies supply Havelock area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
Advice for a terrific stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the host right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
