Strategies to get the very best Havelock vacation home experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Summer months are high season in Beaufort. To find the best value, try shifting your family's Havelock vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Selecting and booking your Havelock rental:
- Select your vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Incredible Views - Magnificent Sunsets\nI Little Piece of Heaven\n has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
During your stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
