Tricks and tips to get the optimal Havelock rental home experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking your Havelock vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guides have discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to choose and book the perfectrental home:
- First and foremost, have your family select dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Quiet, Top-Floor, Ocean & Sound view Condo w\/ Beach Access, Pool, WiFi & more! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a certain Havelock beach you simply love, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
Tips for a great stay:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
