Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Havelock vacation rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in the Havelock area. To find the best value, try changing your family's Havelock vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain deals for local accommodations and attractions.
How to pick the perfect vacation home in the Havelock area:
- To start, have your family choose trip dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Ocean Front Emerald Isle - Pine knoll Shores - PET FRIENDLY has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
- If there's a certain Havelock attraction you love, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Tips to have a wonderful stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
