Our top Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
When to go & When to reserve a rental home:
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To book the most suitable rental home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Havelock restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Planning, selecting, and booking your Havelock rental:
- Choose your vacation week and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Ocean Front Emerald Isle - Pine knoll Shores - PET FRIENDLY has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
